This is a digital copy of the Purple and White. Highland Park College’s annual before the college was sold to the Presbyterians in 1912.
Here’s another item I picked up this weekend at a flea market .
In 1920 Des Moines College was one of the schools that combined with Highland Park College to become Des Moines University. Des Moines College was founded in 1865, with Baptist ties. Its current location at 9th and College Avenue is home to a correctional facility. The picture above is from a postcard of Nash Hall. The postcard is postmarked 1910. The back has a message from the college president Loran D. Osborn.
“Do not forget that we are interested in your college course. Write me if you wish information not found in the literature which has been sent to you. Registration days this fall are September 12 and 13. I hope to great you at that time. Yous very truly, Loran D. Osborn, President.”
